Hjørundfjorden is located in Ørsta municipality and Møre og Romsdal county. It stretches approx. 35 km from the ferry dock Festøya in the north and directly south towards Bjørke. Do you want to see Hjørundfjorden? Join us for a fjord cruise!
Hjørundfjorden is
- Surrounded by tall mountains on both sides, which are between 1000 and 1700 metres high
- Discovered by many tourists, among them summit hikers from all over Europe who are looking for both summer and winter hikes
- Chosen as a new stop for Hurtigruten. This started in autumn 2012 and from 2013 Hurtigruten expanded to daily arrivals in September and October with their concept “Autumn Gold”. This concept will continue in 2014.
- Known for its many landslides and avalanches throughout history. Over 100 people have lost their lives in the last 350 years.
Additionally, we have Norangsfjorden – a branch of Hjørundfjorden going southeast towards Øye. Here we find Norangdalen, Norway’s narrowest valley with a road to Hellesylt.
