The Sunnmøre Alps is a term used for the alpine mountain rage around Hjørundfjorden, with peaks as high as 1700 metres above sea level.

The most well known mountains are Slogen, Jakta, Hornindalsrokken, Skårasalen, Bjørkehornet, Storhornet (Bjørke), Kårdalstindane and Råna.

This area is favoured by hikers, and many tourists come throughout the year. There are several alpine resorts here, first and foremost Strandafjellet, Fjellsetra, Volda ski resort and Bondalseidet (Ørsta ski resort).

The majority of the mountains are reasonably okay to access on foot on summer and on skis in winter. People of average good shape will manage to reach most of the summits and go down again in 5-10 hours.
